Over the next couple of days, I’m going to share my 3 favorite washcloth patterns. I chose to call them WASH cloths over DISH cloths as I find handmade cotton cloths to be very multipurpose.
Today, I’ve chosen the very simple woven stitch. This produces a dense fabric that is perfect for dishes and/or your body but it is the slowest of the three to work up because you are working into the chain spaces below the working row rather than the top of a stitch. Each of the cloths will measure approximately 8″ x 8″

YOU WILL NEED:
50 g (1.75 oz) cotton worsted yarn
H (5.00 mm) crochet hook
STITCH ABBREVIATIONS:
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
TO MAKE:
Ch 38
Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch 1, skip next ch, sc in next ch; rep from * to end, turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, skip 1st sc, *1 sc in ch 1 space, ch 1, skip 1 sc; rep from * to end of row, 1 sc in last ch 1 space, turn.
Row 3 and all following rows: rep Row 2 until 8″ in length. Fasten off, weave in ends and wash up!
